Accounts and Taxes tab is where you map Amazon transactions to account codes in your accounting software so that the settlements arrive pre-coded every time.

Before you get started:

Make sure you have the following prerequisites in place:

  • Connection to an Amazon Marketplace and connection to Xero/QuickBooks Online/Sage

  • If applicable, Multi-currency feature and Currencies must be set up in Xero/QuickBooks Online/Sage

There are two main options to complete your mapping:

  1. You can let A2X create a basic set of Amazon-specific accounts in your accounting software, and complete your mapping

  2. You can create your own chart of accounts list and manually map the transactions

The Accounts and Taxes tab can be found at the top of any A2X page:

Option A) Let A2X create basic accounts in your accounting system

This process is detailed in the article HERE.

When A2X creates accounts in this way, it may find only one or two appropriate accounts in your Chart of Accounts. A2X will assign a name for each account, and apply the best general accounting type.

Click 'Confirm' to allow A2X to create the following list of accounts in your accounting system

Next, bulk update your tax settings in A2X

Step 1: Enable Bulk Actions

Step 2: Choose tax Exempt or No Tax.

(For UK, EU, AU, NZ, or SG sellers follow the instructions HERE for VAT and GST mapping)

Click 'Save'

Once your mapping has been saved, your Accounts and Taxes box will change from Red to Blue. Before sending the entry to your accounting system, review your payout in A2X by clicking here

Option B) Create/use your own accounts from your accounting software

This is often the case when you have custom specifications for reporting. You can use the accounts that you already have in your COA, or create new ones.

Instead of letting A2X create an account, click on the 'x' to the right of each account cell and then click on the drop-down arrow that will appear. You will see that you have access to all of your accounts in your accounting software and can choose each one appropriate for the transaction type.

Once your mapping has been saved, your Accounts and Taxes box will change from Red to Blue. Before sending the entry to your accounting system, review your payout in A2X by clicking here

If you have created new accounts in your accounting software, you will need to refresh Cache in A2X > Settings > Connections.

And then update your A2X Mapping. Make sure to click on 'Save' at the bottom of the page to save your work.

Advanced mapping features:

  • Enable VAT or GST tax mapping for UK, EU, AU, NZ or SG Sellers

  • Edit your new mapping page. You can start by allowing A2X to create a list of chart of accounts, or pick your preferred accounts manually.

Below is an example of the accounts and taxes page after enabling the VAT feature. Please note that the additional columns include the transaction details and the shipped-to-country. This feature allows users to map the accounts and taxes based on detailed information.

  • Fine-tune your accounts and taxes mapping based on your client's tax reporting needs

Well done, you've mapped your Account Types in A2X!

Pro tip:

Add tracking codes or classes by Amazon marketplace in your invoice settings
