If you've been running multiple Shopify Business Entities through A2X, getting clean, entity-level data into your books has meant extra work and manual workarounds. That's changing.
A2X now gives you explicit control over what data each A2X account contains, so your books accurately reflect your entity structure. There are two modes: All Entities and Single Entity. You'll need to transition to one of these by April 30, 2026.
We know change to a working setup can feel disruptive, even if the end result is better. We're here to help. If you have any questions or want to talk through your options, contact us via webchat or email us at contact@a2xaccounting.com.
What are my new options?
All Entities: syncs all entity data into a single A2X account. Reconciliation aligns with Shopify's Finance Summary at the store level, with entity context available in selected reports and exports. All data posts to a single general ledger.
Single Entity: syncs only a single entity's data per A2X account. Each entity gets its own account, which can post to its own general ledger, keeping your books fully separate. Each account requires its own A2X subscription.
For a more detailed comparison, see How A2X handles Shopify stores with multiple Business Entities.
On April 30, 2026, your account will be switched to All Entities mode by default. If you're happy with all of your data posting to one A2X account and one general ledger, you don't need to do anything.
If you'd like to keep your entities separate, with each one posting to its own GL, follow the steps below to set up Single Entity mode before that date.
Switching to single entities
Before you start, there are a few things to know:
You'll be creating new A2X accounts, one per entity.
Each new account will need its own A2X subscription, or will count as one channel on a premium or multichannel subscription.
You can copy your existing mappings into the new accounts, so you won't need to start from scratch.
Step 1: Create a new A2X account for each entity
You'll need one new A2X account for each entity you want to track separately. For example, if you have three entities and want all three on their own books, you'll create three new accounts.
To create a new A2X account, go to your blue left sidebar in A2X and click the plus sign at the bottom to 'Create new account' and follow the prompts.
Step 2: Connect your Shopify store and select your entity
In each new A2X account, connect your Shopify store. A2X will detect that your store has multiple entities and prompt you to choose a mode. Select One, then choose the specific entity you want that account to sync.
Repeat this for each new account, selecting a different entity each time.
Step 3: Map each entity
You will need to map each A2X account. You don't necessarily need to rebuild your mappings from scratch; you can use the copy mapping tool to replicate your existing mapping configuration into each new account.
To do this, on the Accounts and Taxes page, select ‘Copy mappings tool’. Then select the account you’d like to copy the mappings from in the dropdown,
Once mapped, review the mappings to make sure they're correct for that entity's general ledger, especially if your entities use different chart of accounts structures.
Step 4: Set up subscriptions
Each separate account will require its own subscription, or will count as one channel on a premium or multichannel subscription. You can manage this from within your billing.

Once your new Single Entity accounts are set up and your mappings are in place, you can start using them for your accounting.

Frequently asked questions
What happens to my existing account? It stays in place. You can keep it active while you set up and verify your new Single Entity accounts. Once you're happy with the new setup, you can choose to close the original.
Will I lose my mappings? No. You can copy your existing mappings into each new account. You may want to review them afterwards if your entities use different chart of accounts structures.
What if I don't do anything before April 30, 2026? Your account will default to All Entities mode. All of your entities' data will sync into a single A2X account posting to one general ledger. You can still switch to SingleEntity mode after this date — you'll just need to follow the steps above.
Can I move some entities to Single Entity mode and keep others in All Entities? Yes. You could create Single Entity accounts for specific entities while leaving the rest in your All Entities account.
