What are "Unknown" country transactions in TikTok Shop?

Why you might see "Unknown" country in your TikTok Shop data and what it means

Written by Elspeth Cordray

If you use A2X for TikTok Shop in the UK, you may notice some transactions listed as "Unknown" country in your account mapping. This article explains what these are and what to do about them.

What does "Unknown" country mean?

In TikTok Shop, "Unknown" country appears when an order was cancelled before it was shipped. Because the order never left the warehouse, no destination country was recorded. A2X labels these as "Unknown" country (Cancelled) to flag that shipped-to country cannot be determined.

Note: This is different from other platforms such as Amazon or eBay, where "Unknown" country can have other causes. In TikTok Shop, it specifically means a cancelled order.

What should I do with "Unknown" country transactions?

You do not need to take any action. These are cancelled orders where no goods were delivered and no tax event occurred. If you see an unexpectedly large volume, it may be worth checking your cancellation rate in TikTok Seller Centre.

How are "Unknown" country transactions mapped?

By default, "Unknown" country transactions are mapped to the same accounts as your standard sales. You can adjust this in the Accounts and Taxes section of A2X if needed.
