Why Tags Are Required
To use A2X for Shopify B2B, the Shopify operator must apply a specific tag (A2XB2B) to any Shopify order that needs to be created as an individual invoice in the connected accounting ledger.
You can apply this tag manually, but to streamline the process, it’s recommended to use Shopify Flow to automate it—especially when working with high order volumes or recurring tagging conditions.
What Is Shopify Flow?
Shopify Flow is a workflow automation tool that allows you to automate tasks within your Shopify admin, such as adding tags, sending notifications, and more. It is free for all Shopify subscription plans and can help automate the tagging process for your B2B orders.
Explore Shopify’s Flow template library to learn more about creating and customising workflows.
When to Use Flow for Tagging
Here are a few scenarios where using Flow to auto-tag B2B orders may be helpful:
The customer is a business or company rather than an individual contact
The customer name is a known B2B client (e.g. “Six Wives”)
The order is unpaid after 3 days
The order is unpaid and over $1,000 at the time of creation
In each of these cases, Shopify Flow can detect the condition and apply the relevant tag automatically.
Example Workflow: Tag Orders from a Business Customer
Here’s how a Flow could be set up for the first example:
Trigger: Order Created
Condition: Customer account type is “Company”
Action: Add tag “A2XB2B”
For each of these examples a flow could be set up to automate the creation of a tag for the Shopify order that meets the criteria.
For the first example, the Shopify Flow would look like this:

If you're not sure how to create these Flows, we recommend working with your in-house Shopify administrator or developer to build and test them.
