Accounts and Taxes is where you map Amazon transactions to account codes in your accounting software so settlements arrive precoded every time.

Before you get started make sure you have the following prerequisites in place:

  1. Connection to an Amazon Marketplace
  2. At least one settlement imported into A2X from Amazon
  3. Connection to Xero or QuickBooks Online
  4. If applicable, Multi-currency and Currencies must be setup in Xero or QuickBooks Online.
  5. If using Xero, Tax Rates need to be set up in Xero.

You can have A2X create a basic set of Amazon-specific accounts in your accounting software or you can create your own.  Here is how to get started.

The Accounts and Taxes tab can be found at the top of any A2X page, as seen in the screenshot below:

A2X setup offers to create basic accounts for you. This is detailed in the article
"Get Started: Step Four - Set up Account and Tax Mapping"

When A2X creates accounts in this way, it may find only one or two appropriate accounts in your Chart of Accounts already (see screenshot below 400: Sales).

A2X assigns letters to all other account types, and applies the best general accounting type.  Accounts are finalized by clicking "Save Mapping" as in the screenshot below:

Click on Enable AutoMapping, and check that your Account Codes have been applied automatically to your Settlements by reviewing one!

Alternatively, you may want to create the accounts you want to map these transaction types to in your Xero or QuickBooks accounting software.  This is often the case when you have custom specifications for reporting.  Once you have created accounts, refresh your Cache in A2X.

Instead of letting A2X "Create" an account, click on the X to the right of each account cell and click on the drop-down arrow that appears.  You will see that you have access to all of your accounts in your accounting software and can choose each one appropriate for the transaction type.

Make sure you save your mapping!

Lastly, turn on Auto-mapping in Advanced Settings on the Accounts and Taxes page.

Click on Enable AutoMapping, and check that your Account Codes have been applied automatically to your Settlements by reviewing one!

Well done, you've mapped your Account Types in A2X!
